I’ll be working with Kansas’ own non profit organization, Pass It On: Outdoor Mentors, and Savage Arms to help a youngster harvest their first whitetail deer. I’ll mostly be on the sidelines for this one but, if I haven’t already made this clear enough, I’m always happy to get outside and be a part of any kind of hunt - regardless of who’s pulling the trigger.
Kansas traditionally offers and early youth-only rifle season in mid to late September. To be candid, I think there are a lot of archaic methods and concepts that state wildlife agencies employ in the 21st century but youth-only seasons excite me. I never got to participate in one as a youth but I love that the opportunity exists for those kids who have an interest in our natural heritage.
Whitetail deer are abundant in Kansas and there should be ample shot opportunity on this hunt.
